Time Loop Mr Trace A Livengood Mrs Caroline Born Books

"Time Loop" is a story that takes place first in the year of 2036 when the human civilization lies in ruins after a global catastrophe and the few human beings are struggling to survive in this new Dark Age. The main character is Nathan Moreno, an outcast who gets by to stay alive throughout the years in his neighborhood until a strolling stranger, who knew Moreno's father, enlisted his help to prevent the deadly events that brings about the destruction to the civilizations twenty years in the past via the use of a time machine as created by that stranger's son, Jon. It was because of the stranger's (Rubius) connection with his father, Moreno agreed to take the journey to the past but truly unaware of the dangers that he will be facing in the year 2016.

The aliens in this story are called "Dragonflies" who seek to harvest the Earth's gold for their own needs (fuels, etc.) and when gold are depleted, Earth would be destroyed. One of the Dragonflies (Cygnus) became a deserter and helps Rubius and Moreno to stop his own kind from destroying the Earth. It was his knowledge of the alien technology to create the time machine through Jon and ensure Moreno's safe trip to the past. "Time Loop" is Moreno's adventure and mission to save the world from destruction.

Trace Livengood has created an exceptional and enjoyable story. He has written so well and gave marvelous descriptions of the settings and the actions/thoughts/feelings of the characters. As I began to read this story, I found myself as being Nathan Moreno and feeling his thoughts and emotions and feels his struggles as he walks on an adventurous and dangerous road.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. I chose to read this book because of my fascination with time-travel stories and was interested in the idea of "time loops" where one would travel back in time and repeat every thing again, but totally unaware of the complications and implications. The ending sure gave me a food for thoughts.

I personally liked the book and hoped to read more works of this nature by the author in the near future.

Time Loop Mr Trace A Livengood Mrs Caroline Born Books Reviews

Time Loop

Author Trace A. Livengood

Reviewer Mary Oester

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Time Loop" by Trace A Livengood. This book takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a place where many movies have been filmed.

In this spell binding event Nathan Moreno travels back 20 years and will try to change the events of the Earth's future and save mankind as we now know it.

If I had to sum up this book in just one word it would be "evocative" but it's so much more than that too, the story holds an incredible amount of power, the prose is crisp, friendly, easy to read and more gripping than a bulldog's grip. Above all though, are the characters, Nathan Moreno a self-styled outcast who becomes a warrior, Rubius and his son Jon a child like adult, and Cignus the Alien who fight to save the earth. . Each of them have their own distinct and colorful personality and its impossible not to be drawn to them. They also grow and change as the story progresses. The fight scenes are surreal, richly described, fast paced and pretty brutal.

Time Loop is one of the finest Science Fiction time travel novel's I have read so far and it should be seen as essential reading for any fan of the genre.
Interesting take on time travel and a post-apocalyptic world, but the writing is a bit stilted.
Not the greatest at tapping out a review on my HD yet, but I must say that this is a really, REALLY good read. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!
Every piece of the plot is tied down and the future of the loop is explained by Moreno going into the past. I won't spoil the ending but it's part of the loop. This author will be in my top 5 of repeat purchases for new novels.
freebie. Well, the author is but a kid ( feeling old here ) and did a damn fine job of crafting a fun little jaunt through one of my favorite genres...distopian/apocalyptic fun. I enjoyed the global economic/corruption setup. Aliens are always entertaining. Time travel - well hell, now you have a story. The end was a xmas present, but that's okay. The trip to get there was entertaining.
*** Contains Minor Spoilers ***

I usually try to avoid any type of spoiler in my reviews, but in this case it's necessary. Had I stopped reading half-way through, my review would have been 4 or possibly 5 stars. This book starts off strong, setting the scene in eloquent detail. The characters are richly detailed too, and the struggles they have in a dystopian future is easy to believe. But...as the story progresses, it starts to turn a little south in my opinion. The main character, Nathan, devolves from an intelligent, mild mannered, yet street smart "teacher" into a raging mass murderer with little if any conscience. I just found that evolution of his character a little too hard to believe. This is a guy who couldn't keep his lunch down after seeing a feral dog beheaded, and yet a mere 48 hours later has not even the slightest remorse for killing an unarmed hostage and using his corpse to cause a pile up on the freeway. Now, this is something I would have expected from Kaleb, a retired black ops soldier that likely has more kills when we first meet him than Nathan accumulates by the end of the book. But for Nathan to pull this off...it's just too much of a stretch. I could site a few more things but I want to keep this contained to minor spoilage.

That aside, I did like the book. The author's writing style is very good, and the story flows along at a decent pace. Honestly though, I can only recommend this book if your favorite genre is sci-fi.
